DEFIANCE Announce New Drummer
July 26, 2005Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers DEFIANCE have announced the addition of drummer Flatline (VENGINCE) to the group's ranks. "Adding this final piece to the puzzle allows us to move forward with the EP which we have been working towards for the last six months," the band write in a statement. "We hope to be able to solidify the arrangements over the next couple of months and head into the recording studio in the October/November timeframe. . . Steev [Esquivel, DEFIANCE/SKINLAB singer] will be recording a pre-production demo with the new lineup in the weeks to come and we are planning on recording the EP at Trident Studios in Pacheco, CA. Once the EP is complete, we will be posting some of the music on our website, www.defiance1.com. We will also be shopping the EP around to interested labels. If picked up by a label, we will work towards completing a full-length album for release next year."
DEFIANCE released three albums through the Roadrunner label — 1989's "Product of Society", 1990's "Void Terra Firma", and 1992's "Beyond Recognition" — before undergoing major lineup changes and changing their name. The group eventually split up, with various bandmembers going on to join other bands.
